The Brand Challenge:Shentel, headquartered in Edinburg, Virginia, is a provider of phone, Internet and cable services to rural communities. Recently, they have made acquisitions of two cable companies in southern Virginia and West Virginia. Research showed that consumers in the acquired markets were very skeptical of Shentel staying long term. There had been a track record of companies entering their market, only to exit very quickly.The Solution:We created a new brand strategy for Shentel that included a Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Positioning Statement and Brand Promise. The Brand Promise was “Making Deeper Connections.” Deeper connections with the customers and deeper connections with the communities that they serve. The expression of the Brand Promise, which is used in marketing communications, is “Always Connected to You.”As a “symbol of re-evaluation,” we contemporized the brand logo.The new logo conveys energy and connectivity via the multi-colored lines moving in tandem (representing Shentel, the communities and the customers). The orange and gold colors reinforce the genuine and reliable brandpersonality traits. The slate blue represents strength of the brand.

Stacey Wynia leads the PR, social media and grassroots event work GKV does for its clients. With her full-time staff, she provides high-level strategic guidance in the development and execution of PR plans, earned media campaigns and strategic messaging, and a wide variety of social media marketing.
For the past 10+ years, Brent has helped the creative team stay ahead of the curve in the ever-changing interactive design field. From complex data visualizations and infographics, to delicate typography treatments and tech trends, he knows how engage his audience with the right tools for the job.
Dave has over 25 years creative experience in advertising, first as copywriter, then creative director and currently as a chief creative strategist.
Emma works closely with our Social team to execute PR plans, media campaigns and social media programs. She also works with all GKV departments to ensure messages are on-brand and communications are integrated and in-line with advertising efforts.
Daniel is responsible for the development of a client’s media strategies. Daniel consistently works with both our clients and our account management team to help maximize budgets and assure that our clients utilize the best media vehicle for their respective campaigns.
As GKV’s practice lead in Digital and Consumer Engagement his role is to help client partners by providing leadership as someone who can both architect and navigate new challenges: integrating the advertising, creative, strategic and analytical capabilities needed to win the customer.
In early 2018, Shannon was named SVP and Director of Account Management. Her role includes acting as director on select accounts and projects, including new business, providing strategic counsel as needed, and overseeing the department requirements, processes and workload.
Dan, who joined GKV in 2003, leads strategic planning and research for our clients, whether their goals are a more compelling brand promise and brand aligned culture, or creative that builds sales AND an emotional connection.
Mark Rosica has almost 30 year’s experience creating advertising and design in almost every conceivable category for clients in the US and abroad. Mark is a problem solver who thinks strategically and creatively to conceptualize and execute unique campaigns.
Lindsay is an art director who straddles the lines of digital and traditional media.
With a fine arts degree in illustration from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, she has a sharp eye and really enjoys working painting and illustration into projects that allow for it.
Ken oversees a variety of GKV clients across several industries, including health insurance, consumer packaged goods, telecommunications and more. He pushes the GKV creative department to live the brand and produce work that elevates the relevancy of the brand.
