Celebrating Legacy with Limited Edition Commemorative Book
ConceptIn 2019, Viúva Lamego, a historic handmade tile factory, celebrated its 170th anniversary and sought a unique way to honor its long-standing relationship with one of its greatest ambassadors, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Siza Vieira. The challenge was to create something that would not only reflect the rich identity of Viúva Lamego but also serve as a tribute to this relationship and an inspiring business card for future collaborations.
Execution
The idea was to create an exclusive, commemorative object that would tell Viúva Lamegos history in a distinctive way. This took the form of a limited edition book titled Viúva Lamego: Through the eyes of Siza Vieira, which captured the companys narrative through the architects perspective. The project involved in-depth research, interviews, and writing, ensuring that the companys history of collaboration with artists and architects was highlighted. The book aimed to stimulate future partnerships with international architects by showcasing the iconic bond between the factory and Siza Vieira. Each of the 170 copies in this limited edition was individually numbered, making it a rare and valuable item.
