Blending Portuguese Heritage with Iconic New York Imagery

Concept
For the inauguration of the Pestana Groups 100th hotel, located in Manhattan, New York, we were inspired by the question: What if Portuguese tiles were born in the USA? The idea was to blend the traditional Portuguese tile aesthetic with iconic New York symbols, connecting both cultures in a unique design.

Execution
In the style of Portuguese figure tiles, we illustrated iconic New York elements like the Wall Street bull, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Central Stations clock. The designs were colored to match the hotels lilac interiors. A standout feature was a custom-designed blanket for the rooms, created in partnership with the Portuguese fashion brand Bainha de Copas.

Results
The designs successfully combined Portuguese heritage with New Yorks iconic imagery, creating a unique visual identity for Pestana Park Avenue. The collaboration with Bainha de Copas brought an authentic touch, adding distinctive pieces that complemented the hotels interiors, enhancing guest experience.
