Metonymy Media is an agency of creative writers dedicated to helping businesses and organizations communicate effectively for growth and success. We help our clients understand their audiences, capture their attention through creative work, and turn readers into growth opportunities.

Our services include individual projects (e.g, collateral, blogs, white papers, books), content marketing services (strategy and execution), and writing workshops for internal teams or individuals. We work in both the B2B and B2C spaces, and find some of our best clients are in highly-regulated industries (e.g., law, insurance, finance).

We’ve built our company on the foundation of the skills gained through creative writing education. As creative writers, we’re uniquely positioned to write in voices that aren’t our own, about subjects we haven’t yet explored, and with the skill to drive readers to understand, feel, and value exactly what our clients intend. We teach, we write, and we think strategically as a group to guarantee a consistent level of quality no individual writer can match.

Importantly, it is our philosophy that writers are most successful when working closely with other writers on a team. In such an environment, writers support one another, they sharpen against each other, and they produce stronger, more consistent, and more prolific work. For this reason, we do not hire freelance writers or contract our work out to the lowest bidder. All of our writers work full-time out of our office in the Fountain Square neighborhood of Indianapolis.

    Ryan Brock
    Founder & CEO
    Ryan founded Metonymy Media after finding success in his own freelance writing career. He writes and edits projects for clients, supports business development, and manages marketing initiatives. Ryan is the co-author of Nothing New: An Irreverent History of Storytelling and Social Media.

    Creative Director
    Amber graduated from DePauw University with a dual bachelor’s in Creative Writing and Philosophy in 2009, and went on to complete her MFA in Creative Nonfiction at Northwestern University in 2014. She also sometimes teaches as an adjunct professor of English.

    Darcy has spent the past fifteen years in marketing working with clients of all types and sizes. She works on strategy and oversees all of Metonymy Media’s client relationships. She has a knack for identifying opportunities and strategies to effectively improve and maximize clients' budgets.

    Ryan received his MA in English from the University of Indianapolis. He has worked as a researcher and writer for io9.com and has been teaching for the last seven years as an ESL instructor, Adjunct English instructor for UIndy, as well as an English Instructor in China for two years.
