    From Hand-Scored Surveys to Software-as-a-Service

    A startup provider of classroom survey assessments hired us to build a platform for ingesting and analyzing survey data and converting it to quality feedback for its clientele of teachers and school administrators. Prior to working with us the company had been conducting and scoring the surveys by hand. The process of tabulating and analyzing the data was performed by team members, and the final results data was delivered to clients in the form of Excel Workbooks or Comma Separated Values tables. Such a system, in which employees were required for the entire survey process from start to finish, imposed obvious limitations on the company. Growth, in the form of more surveys for an expanded clientele, would have been accompanied by steep and endlessly increasing labor costs.
    We built a backend system that quickly processes survey data and generates detailed reports for teachers, classes, schools and school districts. Our work enabled the client to transform themselves from being a consulting company to being a Software as a Service provider (SaaS). Surveys are now conducted via an automated system that has allowed the company to establish itself as the leader in the K-12 classroom survey field.

    The Brand Challenge:Shentel, headquartered in Edinburg, Virginia, is a provider of phone, Internet and cable services to rural communities. Recently, they have made acquisitions of two cable companies in southern Virginia and West Virginia. Research showed that consumers in the acquired markets were very skeptical of Shentel staying long term. There had been a track record of companies entering their market, only to exit very quickly.The Solution:We created a new brand strategy for Shentel that included a Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Positioning Statement and Brand Promise. The Brand Promise was “Making Deeper Connections.” Deeper connections with the customers and deeper connections with the communities that they serve. The expression of the Brand Promise, which is used in marketing communications, is “Always Connected to You.”As a “symbol of re-evaluation,” we contemporized the brand logo.The new logo conveys energy and connectivity via the multi-colored lines moving in tandem (representing Shentel, the communities and the customers). The orange and gold colors reinforce the genuine and reliable brandpersonality traits. The slate blue represents strength of the brand.

    Since the 1950s, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has made extraordinary strides in curing blood cancers and improving patients’ lives. But the donor public had little awareness of LLS and its impact on the cancer landscape. Our integrated advertising campaign changed minds and behavior in a big way. Eschewing the usual guilt and sentimentality, it shows the pioneering results contributions have led to, all under the theme line, “Someday is today.” (Yes, the voice in the TV is indeed actor Michael C. Hall, a leukemia survivor.)
    Results: TV, OOH, print and digital contributed to a media-surround strategy that in less than one year put LLS on the map as a leading edge charitable organization and produced a 50% lift in average daily donations at peak spend when all media were working together, and a 15% lift in site traffic during the flight. Ultimately we generated a significant ROI as annual online donations were 88% higher in markets exposed to our campaign.

    THE CHALLENGE
    Fathom applies modern data and business intelligence practices to power prosperous, customer-focused water utilities. To do that, they help customers normalize and derive insight from data from many different sources, ranging from real-time data transmission to manual reads of century-old meters.
    WHAT WE DID
    Slide UX advanced Fathom's mission with heuristic reviews of their current software, wireframes, and visual designs for their next-gen release, and product mapping for their long term vision. We paired with an internal designer to ensure that the end consumer had a seamless experience when using the consumer mobile app.
    The showpiece of our work was a high-fidelity rapid prototype using live, embedded data visualizations from Periscope, layered with rich interactions around a specific large municipality's use case.
    RESULTS
    Since our first engagement, CEO Jason Bethke has been a huge proponent of Slide UX, introducing us to new teammates as the company grows. In post-project feedback, VP of Product Mangagement Chris Zagorski  wrote, "I found the Slide UX team to be positive, responsive, creative and interactive."

    Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) are a consultancy that focuses on delivering improved business performance to clients of all sizes through its network of offices in 33 countries around the world.
    With such a large coverage and so many variations in language and market, ERA wanted a solution that would present a unified brand and messaging, but that could be adapted to meet the needs of the individual office.
    Through workshops and an extensive speccing process, we were able to explore the best means of achieving ERAs complex requirements. The websites were built in WordPress as ease of editing and search engine optimisation were essential.

    The websites were made specifically with lead generation in mind. The opportunity to take the next step is never more than a click away and an eCRM linked form is displayed quickly wherever you are on the site.
    Crowd also provided training for both UK and US teams.
    We’re happy to say that leads have increased by 200% since the site was launched and the site has been very well received by the international team at ERA and by their customers old and new.

    Evivo: Transcending A Category

    Challenge: Develop a Brand For a New Category. 
    Biosystems, makers of the revolutionary infant probiotic, Evivo, had a complex story to tell new moms. Breakthroughs in science proved with the advent of certain modern medical practices (antibiotics, C-sections), most First World mothers were no longer passing B.infantis (a good bacteria) along to their baby’s, which is critical to an infant’s developing immune and metabolic systems. Evivo however could restore this missing good bacteria in baby’s gut, and set baby up for life-long health, a key differentiator from other infant probiotics that simply treat current digestive symptoms (colic, etc.).
    In addition to communicating the scientific distinctions of the product, Evivo also had to overcome the doubt many new mothers have regarding the need for a probiotic in the first place (my baby is healthy and growing, why would she need to take anything), as well as prove it was doing something for baby (immediately).
    And to top it off, Evivo was a completely unknown brand.
    Solution: Building The Brand & Marketing The Brand
    Identity & Cues
    To aid in explaining the complex science behind Evivo, E29 developed a number of very simple graphics that could visually communicate the story and prove Evivo was working.
    Brand guidelines were also designed to ensure all communications maintain a clear, uniform and consistent portrayal of the Evivo brand, thus fueling recognition. Brandmarks, typography, color and voice were all included in the guide.
    Activation
    Evivo launched in July 2017 under the Smart as a Mother campaign, which was designed to capture the passion and profound love mothers have for their babies. Utilizing digital and social media (advertising and promoted posts), sponsorships, influencers and search to drive to the Evivo website for more information and/or to purchase, new and expecting moms were introduced to Evivo.

    1: We targeted individuals on LinkedIn with IT related titles, software engineer related titles, professors in the field & every C-Level title across the state of Florida. This ran for two weeks and allowed us to build up our retargeting pool.
    2: The sponsored content strategy was then segmented by the industry the audience was in and specific creative was used for each. 
    Sponsored InMail: Lower Funnel
    We looked at which job titles responded positively to the Sponsored Content in terms of who clicked on the ad and who purchased a ticket. We picked the Top 10 titles and then sent a message to each person in their inbox prompting them to purchase a ticket to the convention. These individuals were already exposed to the Sponsored Content Ads which meant they were more likely to purchase a ticket.
    Retargeting + Display
    Due to the high quality of individuals driven to the site using LinkedIn professional targeting, the pool of website visitors was extremely qualified. The retargeting pool had a higher conversion rate than average and was the lynchpin in terms of final ticket sales. This was mainly because people were more likely to purchase tickets closer to the event date.
    Reddit + Twitter
    We experimented with these platforms to test their usability. By targeting communities related to, or interested in, cybersecurity & hacking we saw success. Reddit saw a higher level of activation in terms of lower CPMs, CPCs & more ticket sales. As soon as we realized Twitter wasn’t performing as well, we immediately optimized and switched all the budget to Reddit.
    Results


    • 29% increase in attendees

    • 22% increase in ticket sales

    • Lower cost per purchase (higher profit)

    • Increased awareness & social engagement

    AboutCure Cardiovascular Consultants, a private practice in Palm Springs, came to us wanting to develop a consistent brand to differentiate them as their business grew.Logo Design
    Dr. Bagheri is a cardiologist who owns his own private practice. The final logo symbol we created for him is a dual image of a heart and a gladiator mask that Dr. Bagheri liked among the concepts.
    One of Dr. Bagheri’s patients, Archangel Michael, gave him a painting after a successful surgery. Dr. Bagheri has always been passionate about fighting to save people’s’ lives and the Archangel Michael has always had a personal connection even from his childhood. He wanted a logo with an angel fighting that was not cheesy or cliche. We played around with three different themes: an angel, a heart, and a gladiator mask. In the end, we were able to create a logo that stayed true to Dr. Bagheri and Cure Cardiovascular’s values.

The target client was a government agency who was interested in improving their emergency evacuation procedures by monitoring in real time live meeting point check-ins, enhanced visual reporting to evaluate past evacuations, and understanding efficient ways to communicate during the emergency itself.
