They stand out from their competitors due to their experimental and adventurous recipes, and their website showcases some of the partnerships that they currently have with celebrities, brands and chefs.
This website is rammed with effects, animations, and video content. It almost feels more like a movie than a website, with the homepage hosting numerous stories, case studies, recipes, and documentaries all through videography. The design of the of website is so heavily reliant on multimedia that it does feel a little rough around the edges at times, and it’s not the smoothest of websites, particularly if you’re on a slower internet connection.
That said, the content is incredibly compelling, and the imagery that supports the videos is mouthwatering. The product shots of the cooked bacon almost make you want to drop everything and purchase some bacon immediately!
In terms of colors used throughout the website, the background is entirely black with the copy, headings and CTA’s all being in white. The minimalistic color scheme works well, as any other additional colors would more than likely be overshadowed by the colorful graphics and videos. The color choice supports the slogan of the company - “we’re always the new black.”
The font styles, particularly that of the headings and subheadings, are impactful and help guide your eyes down the page as you scroll. The heavy, wide, Mono fonts do an excellent job of directing your focus and whilst the sans serif copy isn’t too prominent it is still easy to follow, even in amongst the array of animations and effects.
The mobile experience of the site is arguably even slicker than the desktop, with deep scrolling being used to maximise the impact of the video and visual content. Overall, the website is an engaging and dramatic experience. The use of video to create compelling content for the brand is an effective means of appealing to the audience.
