Capitol Call Corporate App Design

A lot of Americans want to voice their opinions to their elected representatives in Congress but aren’t sure where to begin.

The process of knowing who to call and tracking down office numbers can be tedious and time-consuming. The Capitol Call app is designed to eliminate those barriers and make it easy for constituents to make their voices heard.

When the user opens the app, Capitol Call asks for permission to use their GPS location. Either using GPS or by manual entry, the app then populates a list of the user’s representatives.

Each representative is displayed on a card, with a photo, governing body, party affiliation, and a bold red call-to-action with the representative’s phone number.

Tapping on the representative’s card brings up a list of additional contact options, such as social media networks, physical office address, and website details.

For users who want more information about their representatives the app also includes the date of their next election, and information about their voting record, including details of bills they’ve sponsored.

For users who are looking for causes to support, they can browse the “Take Action” tab to see specific issues sponsored by activist groups. These groups provide scripts that the user can reference when making their call, making it less intimidating to do so.

The design of the Capitol Call app is staid but functional. The red, white, and blue color palette of the app gives it a trustworthy, civic appeal. The quality of the information included and the easy pathways to engagement the app provides are commendable.
