Chén Fan & Maxim Cormier
Chen Fan and Maxim Cormier are two brilliant designers based in Toronto, Canada. The pair specializes in graphic design, branding and print design. The following examples of best print design incorporate bold colors and unique fonts that make them stand out from the crowd.
The above photo is a concept resume listing the skills of Chen Fan. This is the most unique looking resume I have ever seen. It is on a bubble wrap envelope! This is a resume in a literal package. The first part includes a gray envelope that features what appears to be a white packing slip.
Chen Fan’s attributes are listed in green and his background and education are in black font. The green color is outstanding and vivid. When the reader opens up the package, the bubble wrap package awaits.
Another white packing slip reveals more of Chen’s skills and background. This is sure to be an entertaining and fresh experience for people looking to learn more about (or hire!) Chen Fan.
Chen Fan’s business cards have his signature neon green border. The unique deconstruction of the “F” in his last name appears on the front. Instead of the normal cross bar to complete the “F” letter, Chen opts for a simple circle. This is a brilliant use of minimalism.
A closer view of Chen Fan’s business cards highlights the genius of his “F” letter deconstruction. The mastery of negative white space is on full display. This space allows the information to breathe and be digestible.
The book cover designs bright white and has geometric lines on it that connect with various dots. The letters and numbers are presented in a unique fashion by appearing with roman numerals and disrupted line work. Select geometric shapes are highlighted in yellow along with the words “mcd”. This adds visual distinction and makes the book cover very interesting.
This product cover features an awesome blurred gradient effect on the cover with a dark gray background. The lettering is in white and the blue neon aurora light effect makes the product look intriguing.
The product cover actually peels off to reveal the product texture below. This is an example of how physical folds and tear outs create a level of distinction in print design that increases user engagement.
A closer view of the cover reveals the extent to which the reader can pull back this cover flap. Studies show that this behavior triggers the reward system in the prefrontal cortex which releases the feel-good neurotransmitter dopamine. People will want to continue flipping folds and uncovering more of the product information.
Chen Fan and Maxim Cormier have an astounding body of work. Their portfolio showcases their print design, graphic design and branding skills in the form of color contrasting, font mastery and the reimagining of letters. They have mastered form and function and can adapt their skills to meet any design challenge they face.
In the most critical takeaway, their work is one-of-a-kind. The best print designs or any designs for that matter are the ones that leave people in awe.
