Powder Project Top App Design

Powder Project is a guide to ski trails across the country. The app features tons of information to help winter enthusiasts find trails to suit whatever they’re looking for. The custom-developed app even situates the user on the map during use, so they can track their exact progress along the trail.

Users can download data for specific areas so the information will be accessible even when they may be out of a service area (as can often be the case on more isolated trails and mountains).

Within each area, numbers clustered on the map indicate the presence of trails. Zooming in will bring up a more detailed map with trails highlighted. The user can select a trail to generate at-a-glance information, such as the name of the trail, the length and average rating. They can then pin the trail or pull up elevation information.

The user can also find detailed information about each trail. Each trail listing features images, information about ascent and descent, user comments and a detailed description. The user can check-in at the trail, add it to a to-do list or rate it so other skiers can get the benefit of their opinion.

The Powder Project app design has a simple, streamlined design that is oriented around the map view and allowing the user to access quick, at-a-glance trail facts. The use of large, high-quality imagery on trail pages keeps the experience of using the app lively and dynamic. The options to explore and save trails ensure that the app is useful for planning all year round.
