Best Buy is a major consumer electronics retailer in North America with a strong brick-and-mortar and ecommerce presence. The brand’s mobile app is modern and updated for use by today’s mobile consumer.
The homescreen of the app is simple and streamlined, surprisingly so given the breadth of product offerings. The brand has chosen to focus its attention, highlighting a handful of promotions in a banner rotation, as well as emphasizing search and Geek Squad services. A “Deals of the Day” section highlights daily promotions, giving users a reason to log back in regularly. A timer even displays a countdown until the deal expires.
Meanwhile, product navigation is done via a simple text menu that allows users to find what they’re looking for quickly. Within each category the app promotes a best-selling product at the top of the navigation.
The app allows users to tap and hold on a product in order to add the product to cart. Doing so opens the product in a lightbox, giving the user additional information and offering them the ability to add the product directly to cart. It’s a modern feature that more closely reflects the way users interact with their devices than clicking through multiple options does.
Lightweight typography and minimalist iconography give the app and open, modern feel. The deep blue hue of the Best Buy logo is used throughout to keep the app feeling well-branded. Plenty of whitespace used throughout helps keep the app feeling fresh, contemporary, and easy on the eyes.
