Hooch

The Hooch app is designed to help users explore new bars in their city, while giving them access to free drinks every day, just for trying something new.

On launch the app displays a single onboarding card with a succinct explanation of the purpose of the app -- to be the intersection between the bars who are looking for new customers, and the customers who are on the hunt for new great places to drink. Hooch members get free drinks every day for a monthly subscription fee of $10.

Through the app users are able to explore bars in their neighborhood, and discover great places they’ve never been to. The app populates a list of bars in the neighborhood the user specifies. Each listing features a poster image, venue name, address, and estimated distance from the user’s current location. Within the venue page the app displays a venue description and links to view it on the map and get directions. There’s also a menu of the featured cocktails that are available to users who choose to redeem their free daily drink at the bar. Simply tap on the image of the cocktail to redeem. Once a free drink has been selected a countdown clock displays how long the user has to redeem it.

The Hooch app has afamiliar modern design. The black background is in keeping with apps in the bar and drinking scene, and the photography used in the app gives it a sophisticated vibe. Pops of color are used throughout to highlight specific venue features, and to help orient users within the app navigation. The prominent display of cocktails on the venue pages keeps the focus on the app’s core purpose -- to get users into new bars with the lure of a free drink.
