UK-based creative design and digital media studio 2am operated for more than 30 years as "the design agency to beat." Recently, they embraced the technology that shaped the industry, and went fully digital in 2017.
The creative approach to the site, from the layout to the information presented, is distinctively on-brand. The homepage draws users in with a circle as a stand-alone brand element. This circle is used consistently throughout the site, and can be found somewhere on every page and in subtle areas such as buttons, callouts, side navigation, images, and portfolio pieces.
The agency appears unconventional and modern, which is reflected online -- although their website is also straightforward and user-friendly.
While the site may initially appear simple, it's actually quite creative. The use of motion graphics to detail content is appealing to users. Plus, simple animation on the main menu is eye-catching; at first, it appears as just text, but more information is revealed as the user hovers on it.
The case studies page is nicely done. On the top, users see a featured case study as a fullscreen image with a simple title on top. This creates a dramatic yet positive impression.
Below that, all case studies are presented in an uneven grid, where users are drawn in by bold colors, titles, and dates. Overall, it’s very corlorful page that exudes pleasing feelings.
The site uses very little copy and puts the focus on their case studies, portfolio, and services. Case studies are a very effective way to understand a company and the work they produce, and 2am successfully accomplishes this.
