The immense potential of artificial intelligence in creative work continues to unravel.
Most recently, the movie trailer for a sci-fi epic film titled "Genesis" was revealed to be made by product designer Nicolas Neubert in under seven hours with the help of generative AI.
It is important to note that the film itself does not exist, but the trailer for Genesis is just as convincing as anything audiences could set eyes upon at a movie theatre.
With the help of platforms Midjourney and Runway, Neubert was able to compose images with limited animations and camera moves, while the trailer’s music was acquired through Pixabay.
Currently working as a senior product designer at Elli by Volkswagen, the trailer’s designer detailed the process of creation on X, including the biggest challenges he faced during post-editing in CapCut.
He identified one of the biggest challenges to be remaining consistent through the variety of motion images.
"If you ask me, world-building and storytelling are the number one skills you should learn as a creative. With technology that allows everyone to generate high-quality content, the magic will happen through those who know how to stitch pieces together," Nicolas Neubert explained in the Twitter post.
The Genesis trailer quickly went viral online, begging the question of how generative AI will continue to influence different industries and what it takes to create a film trailer today.
