Astro Bot, a 2024 platform video game developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 5, won the Game of the Year Award at The Game Awards.
The annual Game Awards, also known as “The Oscars” for gaming, recognizes and upholds creative and technical excellence in the global video game industry.
It kicked off its “10th Anniversary Gala Celebration” last night, December 12, at the Los Angeles' Peacock Theater.
This year, Astro Bot outplayed its fellow nominees Balatro, Black Myth Wukong, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, taking home four awards in the Best Family Game and Best Game Direction categories.

Media entrepreneur Geoff Keighley, who has served as a journalist, host, and producer of video game programming across print, television, and digital, founded The Game Awards in 2014.
He is best known for his work with Entertainment Weekly, Spike TV, G4, YouTube, and his landmark series of behind-the-scenes game development stories known as “The Final Hours.”
