Capcom has just announced the upcoming release of the latest installment in the Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds.
The first full trailer was released at State of Play 2024, Sony PlayStation's regular video broadcast that happens several times a year.
The trailer showcased the game’s main draw — the "living world," a dynamic and immersive system where game environments are deep and three-dimensional, with evolving landscapes.
Take the reins of your Seikret and journey to the Forbidden Lands in Monster Hunter Wilds, coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC/Steam in 2025.

An immersive story full of new faces, monsters, and hunting abilities await you in a dynamic living ecosystem.#MHWildspic.twitter.com/wQ0zjN8OR2
Because of the "living world" feature, monsters and organisms are capable of adapting to the environment.
Creatures within these locales can also act independently of each other, creating a vibrant ecosystem.
The game also sees the introduction of new monsters, including:
- Doshaguma, a territorial and aggressive fanged beast
- Chatacabra, an amphibian that uses adhesive saliva to strengthen itself
- Ceratonoth, herbivores that protect their species from lightning with dorsal horns
- Dalthydon, herbivorous wyverns that change habitats seasonally
Taking place in the Forbidden Lands, a new and unexplored region, the player-controlled and fully customizable Hunter will traverse the game’s massive terrain with the help of a new cast of characters.
The game also introduces the ability to ride a mount, using weapons while riding, new weapon types, and fully voiced dialogue.
The Sequel to a Success
Wilds will follow the franchise’s biggest title yet, 2018’s Monster Hunter World, which is currently the best-selling Capcom title of all time.
The new game carries over several features from the previous installment, utilizing the processing power of modern consoles and computers to render environments that are fully connected.
Wilds also sees the return of the Palico, a cat companion that's become a staple of the franchise.

To sweeten the deal, Capcom is offering incentives to fans, with exclusive in-game loot to be awarded to owners of Monster Hunter World and its expansion, Iceborne.
With a tentative release date of 2025, video game fans eagerly await what is sure to be Capcom’s next greatest hit.
