Vodafone UK just put out a new campaign celebrating "40 years of Christmas on The Nation's Network."
Helmed by advertising agency Leo Burnett UK, the latest initiative is marked by a hero spot highlighting cherished holiday moments between family and loved ones made possible by reliable connection.
The nostalgia-fueled campaign goes back in time to show how the U.K.'s first mobile company has helped connect the nation to the people they love over the decades — through brick phones and smartphones.
Vodafone UK Brand Director Maria Koutsoudakis expressed joy in Vodafone's pioneering and enduring role in connecting the nation.
Koutsoudakis also shared how the first-ever text sent in the UK was a Christmas greeting on their network, while the first-ever call made was "Hello, Happy New Year."

The latest from the brand and agency takes audiences back in time to the inception of tech-based connection in the U.K. and how Vodafone led the charge over the years.
Through effective brand storytelling, Vodafone's rich history and decades of service shine, showing everyone why it's among the leading networks in the region.
Partnering with a trusted UK-based advertising agency like Leo Burnett ensures that a brand's message comes across clearly to its audience in a way that's engaging and entertaining.
Connecting the Past and the Present
The 80-second spot plays out like a series of vignettes, showing audiences how Vodafone kept families connected during the holidays over the last 40 years.
It starts off with a woman being surprised by her husband outside their house as the husband shows off one of the first versions of the mobile phone.
Using a brick phone, a man looks for bread sauce from the grocery shelves, constantly speaking to the other person on the line.
We then see a Christmas greeting in the form of a text message read on an old Nokia phone, complete with era-specific text slang.
In the next scene, a grandmother finds out the gender of her newborn grandson through a call on her flip phone, breaking the news to the people around her.
Years pass and families connect via video call. A father and his mom greet each other for the holidays, but the mom has a hard time adjusting to the technology.
The spot ends with a man surprising his mother with a call before showing up on her doorstep.
"Connecting you at Christmas for 40 years," the screen writes as the ad concludes.
