Coca-Cola, in collaboration with creative content studio Mill+ and creative agency AKQA, has recently debuted a new animated ad which pays tribute to the holy month of Ramadan.
Titled "Ramadan Is Coming," the vibrant one-minute spot captures the essence of the sacred month's traditions through captivating visuals.
The ad begins by following a convoy of Coca-Cola trucks on a picturesque journey to mark the beginning of Iftar, the breaking of the fast.
As the trucks travel from street to street, families head out of their homes in anticipation of their arrival.
The iconic trucks, known for their festive symbolism, then park and transform into vibrant mobile diners for families to feast in.
The ad then showcases various moments of connection, unity and joy through a heartwarming dinner scene, before it closes with an overview shot of the city lights.
Capturing the Spirit of Ramadan
Directed by Tim Fox, the commercial serves as a testament to Mill+'s visual storytelling prowess, as seen in how the animation captures the spirit of Ramadan in a meaningful and impactful way.
Chris Welsby, animation supervisor at The Mill, expressed the idea behind the team's vision:
"We wanted the animation to feel vibrant, full of life, and really capture the feeling of celebration," he shared. "The aim was to have a collection of more intimate moments between characters that, when combined together, created a world full of life."
"Infusing the film with authenticity and a personal connection to the audience was a priority for me," Fox added.
Notably, the director also highlighted the intentional design to give the film a hand-crafted feel, giving credit to the team of artists and animators for their skill and dedication to the project.
Coca-Cola's creative team has also commended the outstanding quality of work from The Mill:
"Everyone is amazed by the level of quality from the Mill at Coca-Cola. We are so thankful for the team. The work you have done is beyond," they shared.
