Corona is inviting fans to savor the thrill of the opening day of Major League Baseball (MLB) with an exciting new sweepstakes campaign that also helps fans take a day off.
As the "Official Cerveza of Major League Baseball," the alcoholic beverage company is encouraging baseball enthusiasts aged 21 and older to take a day off work and immerse themselves in the excitement of the opening game with a refreshing Corona Extra in hand.
By following @CoronaUSA on Instagram and tagging their boss in the comments of a designated post, they get to enter the Opening Day Off Sweepstakes for a chance to win giveaways.
The prizes up for grabs include Corona products, a complimentary one-year subscription to MLB.TV, or tickets to a select home opener.
Corona Features Nick Castellanos in Opening Day Ad
To promote the sweepstakes, the beer brand also dropped a one-minute spot starring Philadelphia Phillies' right fielder Nick Castellanos, as he sends a message to everyone's bosses.
"They want me to tell you your employee wants to take off work on opening day," Castellanos shares. San Diego Padres' very own Fernando Tatís Jr. makes a special appearance, asking, "People work on opening day?"
Castellanos then goes on to tell bosses that if they're tagged in the video, it means their employees have intentions of clocking out during the start of the MLB season.
The right fielder then begins knocking down items on his desk, as the screen shows the many things their employee won't be doing during opening day, such as taking calls, reading emails, and touching base.
Following this, El Niño hits the audience "with the facts," and explains the benefits of watching baseball, like making people happy and networking with other baseball fans.
Castellanos closes the spot by reassuring bosses that their employees will be back, "but March 28, that's a baseball day."
Corona Treats MLB Opening Day Like a Holiday
Entering the third year of the company's partnership with MLB, Corona Director of Brand Marketing Saúl Trejo explains the significance of celebrating Opening Day with Corona, "Opening Day deserves to be enjoyed in the finest way possible: with an ice-cold Corona in hand."
"As the Official Cerveza of Major League Baseball, Corona is proud to champion the fans who never lose, and reward those who live in the moment to take the day off," he said in a press statement.
In addition to the sweepstakes, fans are encouraged to connect with Corona on social media to stay updated on the latest news and promotions.
Throughout the season, fans can also expect to find Corona featured in select stadiums nationwide, enjoy custom content on MLB platforms, and participate in major events like All-Star Week.
The sweepstakes is open from today until March 13.
