A hilarious new advertising campaign from popular gadget retailer Currys tackles the difficult task of ensuring its employees are not sidetracked by football during the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 finals in Germany.
"No Distractions" is a campaign developed with London agency AMV BBDO and the latest addition to Currys’ ongoing "Beyond Techspectations" brand platform.
It emphasizes the commitment of its employees "to keep focused on what they do best," which is providing tech expertise at all times.
"In the latest installment of our already hugely popular 'Beyond Techspectations' series, we continue to push absurdly humorous boundaries, whilst reaffirming Currys as the go-to tech experts for all its customers’ needs," Currys Senior Advertising Manager Martin Burke said in a statement.
Tech Expertise at Its Most Absurd
The campaign is comprised of three 30-seconders depicting the absurd measures that Currys staff will take not to get distracted by the football finals while with customers, which include:
- Putting on a huge dog cone
- Wearing an oversized eye mask
- Rotating the head 180 degrees just to look away
"'No Distractions' breaks the traditional football advertising mold, driving brand consideration ahead of what is set to be an extravaganza of sport this summer," Burke shared.
The spots also showcase the tech retailer's latest customer incentive — a guaranteed cash reward from £25 to £100,000 with the purchase of any TV over £499.
Jeremy Tribe and Dave Westland, AMV BBDO's creative directors, explained the campaign's concept.
"When the nation is gripped by football fever, a store full of TVs is the hardest place to focus on work. So, we’re showing the absurd dedication of Currys colleagues to stick to their task — delivering tech expertise," they said.
"It’s a distinctive and memorable addition to the 'Beyond Techspectations' platform. Hopefully, football’s coming home, as well as a truckload of tellys."
As excitement builds for the finals, Currys positions itself as the ultimate destination for all things tech — proving that even the most intense football matches won’t deter its team from providing top-notch customer service.
