The NTS team initially approached the software developer to give its existing customer portal an upgrade. Based on the brief, NTS’ portal was slow to load, lacked options for visualizing data, and fell short in reporting capabilities.
Because of this, the NTS platform was scarcely used, and only a small population of its customers was aware of it.

Applying the SolutionLab Process
Through its SolutionLab prototyping process, Designli began its NTS Work Zone project by first analyzing the company’s business model to figure out how it can develop the most suitable and efficient system for its client.
This included setting organizational goals for NTS, which also helped Designli build solutions with foresight.
Constant and consistent communication was key as it enabled both to settle on the terms and scale of the project without inflating costs.

The Designli team then began hypothesizing the kinds of processes the customer portal would need to make it scalable and work in harmony with NTS’ enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, Infor.
They sought to build off its existing systems to remain consistent with the platform’s architecture and aesthetics.
This led Designli to its next step, which was to create a Figma-based prototype, giving the agency and client a collaborative fine-tuning process, ensuring the project was not only feasible but could be achieved with minimal training required.
Building Off of Existing Design Rules
In making the UI/UX prototype in Figma, Designli had to consider NTS’ brand identity and style guide to ensure that the prototype properly reflected the brand.
Designli’s Lead Designer expounded on this crucial step, which also allowed stakeholders to provide feedback about the portal prototype before its initial launch.
Once the prototype had been assessed and approved, the real work began.
Designli moved on to the software development stage of the project, starting with a cross-functional team consisting of:
- Frontend Web Developer
- Backend Web Developer
- Part-Time Product Owner
Considering the timeline's importance to the NTS leaders, the Designli development team provided value quickly without sacrificing the quality of the output, surpassing client expectations.

- View and download invoices
- Check outstanding balances and credit limit
- Review open and closed contracts with line-items
- Export data, which includes “on-rent” items
- Request for call-offs
- Update purchase order number
- Pay via credit card or check
