Porsche has tapped on international pop artist Dua Lipa to star in its sleek new campaign — only this time, she's not just acting. The luxury car brand has given Dua free reign to co-write and direct a short film promoting its all-electric Macan.
Made in collaboration with French director Clemént Durou, the new ad sees the pop star letting her creativity shine through work that authentically represents both her and the brand.

She even goes on to describe the advert as "everything you'd expect from Porsche. And a few things you'd never imagine."
The marketing initiative is the latest work to come from the German automaker and the "Cold Heart" singer since they inked their partnership last November 2023.

The start of their team-up was marked by the Grammy award-winning artist's visit to the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles in 2023, where she took the Porsche Taycan Turb out for a spin.
Earlier in 2024, Dua also attended an internal Porsche event that took place in Singapore, marking her first official appearance for the brand. Having "directed" her own film for the brand, their blooming partnership is set to reach new heights, with more projects in the pipeline.
Dua's Directing Day
"So, wait, what you're asking me is how would I direct a Porsche ad?" Dua says to kickstart the ad. She then begins to narrate her vision to the production crew, which viewers get to witness in real time.
In her idea for the Porsche spot, the 28-year-old drives the new Macan around the city at night, when it's misty and raining — "or maybe not."
As the set changes, Dua engages in a high-speed chase with bikers to give viewers "all the cool car shots," drifting on sandy terrain in slow motion.
Not long after, Dua gets a quick car wash and spends the night with her friends back in the city, before the scene cuts to the racetrack, where she races against herself.
"Enough racing. Now, drama," the musician says, shifting to sequences of her and her Porsche during her wedding, in the middle of labor, and while being chased by a hoard of zombies.
To close the spot, she pictures herself driving the EV together with a herd of horses and elephants, before the screen writes: "Written and Directed by Dua Lipa."
Celebrity brand partnerships have become common mainstays in automotive marketing, especially for high-end brands like Porsche.
Earlier in July, Ford teamed up with renowned footballer Eric Cantona for a campaign introducing its all-electric Capri. In this campaign, they draw parallels between the Capri and the star's "legend" status, making Cantona the perfect endorser for the brand.
