Travel company Expedia just launched a new spot that proves dream destinations are just a click away.
In the heartwarming narrative of "Northern Lights," a young child and her grandmother illuminate the ceiling and recreate the Aurora Borealis using a simple yet ingenious light projector, all as Nico and The Velvet Underground's track "I’ll Be Your Mirror" plays in the background.
Witnessing the tender scene between grandmother and granddaughter, the little girl's mother spontaneously arranges a trip to Norway using Expedia.
As the ad comes to a close, the three are seen basking in the beauty of the Northern Lights, making both the grandmother and kid's dream come true.
"You were made to dream about it for years. We were made to help you book it in minutes," the narrator declares as the commercial ends.
Based on a consumer survey from Expedia, 57% of British citizens dream of witnessing the Northern Lights at least once in their lifetime. Additionally, solar flares are expected to reach their peak this year, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Expedia saw this as an opportunity to create a campaign that would help consumers tick a box off their bucket list.
Made in-house and directed by Japanese filmmaker Hiro Murai, "Northern Lights" made its debut during the Super Bowl Sunday pre-game show aired in the U.S. and Canada.
Apart from the 30-second spot, the travel tech giant will also include out-of-home activations at the One World Trade Center, along with magazine features.
