Google Search reportedly will roll out a dedicated ‘AI mode’ that integrates conversational AI into the core search experience (via Android Authority).
The feature is said to work and look like its Gemini AI chatbot and is poised to set a new standard for how users interact with information online.
AI Mode promises to strengthen Google’s competitive edge in the search market catching up to its rival OpenAI's ChatGPT and effectively expanding Gemini's audience.
"AI Mode" was first spotted in its early testing phase by Android Authority. It is shown at the top left of the web results page and inside the Google app, having a similar interface to Gemini.

The tech publication managed to activate the UI for Google’s upcoming AI Mode for Search in the latest Google app v15.49.40 beta.
However, it found that tapping the button crashes the app because the feature isn't fully completed.
Additionally, Google also integrated a quick-access feature for its AI Mode directly into the Google Search widget.
But, currently, tapping this shortcut opens the regular search tab in the Google App, without providing access to the full AI Mode capabilities.

9to5Google also found references to "aim" (AI mode) and "ai_mode," suggesting that AI Mode in the Google App is being designed as a centralized, interactive hub for advanced AI-driven searches and functionalities.
In the meantime, The Information wrote that Google is "planning to give its billions of search users the option to switch to an AI Mode that looks nearly identical to its Gemini Al chatbot, according to a person working on the product.”
While the AI Mode feature remains a work in progress, businesses should start preparing by optimizing content for AI-driven search results.
On the other hand, Yahoo Finance revealed that Google’s AI Mode, placed next to tabs like "All" and "Images," will let users seamlessly switch to AI-driven answers from the Gemini bot, complete with linked sources for deeper dives.
