Meta-owned Instagram will remove its "Shop" tab from the navigation bar and put the "Create" button back in the center next month.

This change comes as part of Instagram's effort to simplify its app and make the user interface more accessible for people to "share and connect with their friends and interests."

Beginning in February, Instagram will move back its creating content button (the plus sign "+") to the front and center of the menu bar, at the bottom of the app, while the Reels button will be moved beside it, on the right side.

"[Users] will still be able to set up and run [their] shop on Instagram as we continue to invest in shopping experiences that provide the most value for people and businesses across feed, stories, reels, ads and more," the company said in their support page.

Meanwhile, the feature is only available to businesses in some cities in the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.

Last year, the company began testing the platform's home feed without the Shop tab button, marking a shift in how the social media platform treats eCommerce

The Shop tab was initially introduced in 2020 as a way for users to discover and buy products from brands they follow on Instagram.
