Matthew McConaughey shares an interesting conspiracy theory with San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey in a hilarious spot for Uber Eats.
Led by independent creative agency Special U.S., "Football is for Food" takes a good look at why there's a good chance that watching the game can get your stomach grumbling.
This is the latest in the brand's long-running series of ads that focus on football, which usually coincide with the Super Bowl and other major NFL events.
McCaffrey chimed in, sharing his love for football and food while highlighting the undeniable connection between the two.
Uber Eats has long used influencer partnerships to generate buzz for its campaigns.
Previous spots from the brand leveraged A-list stars like Jennifer Aniston, David Beckham, and Helen Mirren.
McConaughey's Theory
The new Uber Eats commercial opens with McConaughey and McCaffrey sitting around a table to watch an NFL game.
The football player exclaims that he's still hungry. McConaughey, football in hand, explains that it's because he's watching a football game, which he calls an "elaborate scheme to make you buy more food."
It goes deeper, says the actor, citing the many food-based football terms: turnovers, pancake blocks, scrambles, and feeding.
"Jabrill Peppers, man? C. J. Ham? Slather on some Jerod Mayo and you got yourself a sandwich," he says, humorously name-dropping NFL players with tasty surnames.

After more NFL antics prove his point further, the spot ends with an appearance from football legend Jerry Rice, who shows up eating a box of — you guessed it — rice.
In June, McConaughey starred in an ad for his tequila brand Pantalones, along with his wife and co-owner Camila.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, McCaffrey appeared in an ad for Lowe's with Travis Kelce and other NFL stars.
