Meta Quest has launched an inspirational campaign, teaming up with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to highlight how its technology can elevate fan experience.
Produced by Moirai Films, post-produced by Televisor Studio, and made in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy London, the spot takes place in the northernmost town of Barrow, Alaska, where basketball brings everyone together.
Featuring youths who dream of watching an NBA game live and later on playing pro basketball, "Fans at the Edge of the Earth" shows how the sport continues to inspire — reaching even the most isolated places.
WNBA player for the Minnesota Lynx Alissa Pili, whose hometown is also Barrow, makes a surprise appearance, handing the kids free Meta Quest headsets so they can get courtside views of the games from their side of the world.

The spot aims to show audiences how state-of-the-art VR headsets can redefine the sports experience — bringing fans straight to courtside, no matter where they are.
This comes after a string of efforts Meta is executing to push the envelope and integrate the headset into our daily activities.
During the holidays, the tech giant also teamed up with fitness icon Jane Fonda for a program under its Supernatural VR app, available on Meta Quest.
Here, Fonda leads a fitness program together with rapper Ludacris, touting the fun and exciting ways Quest can spice up our workout routines.
Campaigns like this show the kind of creative strategies often utilized by leading advertising agencies like Wieden+Kennedy, showcasing a product's features by letting real people experience it.
It is an effective brand marketing strategy that pushes the Quest headset as a multi-use device that can be your partner in both sports viewing and fitness.
Pili's Surprise
Directed by Billy Corben, the short film starts by introducing us to a group of NBA fanatics from Barrow, Alaska, huddling and cheering at a makeshift basketball court.
We then get to meet them one by one, as they share their unique day-to-day experiences in the small town, where there is complete darkness throughout the NBA season.
They then share their hopes and dreams of leaving Barrow to pursue a basketball career with the NBA or WNBA, before returning to give back to their community.

Despite being mega fans, they all express never having been to an NBA game. Not long after this, the group gets on a video call with Pili, who they all look up to.
They are all surprised by Pili with Meta Quest headsets, which they use to view NBA games live as if they're courtside.
Pili then shares some words of wisdom and wishes them the best, as the commercial ends with a group shot and the tagline, "Sit courtside from anywhere."
It is not surprising that popular NBA players are continuously being tapped by brands to star in their campaigns.
Previously, Sprite teamed up with NBA stars Anthony Edwards and Kevin Garnett for a timely spot where they talk about the second half of the NBA season.
