Starting today, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses users worldwide will gain access to live translation.

The feature, first previewed at Meta Connect 2024, had previously been limited to a small group of Early Access users. It's now available globally.
This latest update underscores Meta's ambition to position smart glasses, not just as lifestyle accessories but as useful tools for cross-cultural communication and contextual AI.
Also expanding is Meta AI's ability to engage based on what you're looking at through the glasses.
While the visual assistant feature remains in limited release, Meta says a broader rollout is coming soon to the U.S. and Canada.
New Colors, New Channels
Alongside the software expansion, Meta is introducing new style options to keep the wearables fashion-forward.
The Skyler frames are now available in shiny chalky gray with sapphire Transitions lenses, while shiny black frames can now be paired with clear or green tints.

Meta is also upgrading communications by rolling out the ability to send and receive messages, photos, audio, and video calls on Instagram directly through the glasses.
This adds to a growing list of supported platforms, which already includes WhatsApp, Messenger, and native iOS/Android apps.
The brand is backing its product updates with cultural momentum, too.

At this year's Coachella, Meta activated a high-visibility social campaign.
It featured influencers using the smart glasses to capture real-time moments, tying the glasses to spontaneous creativity and music festival clout.
With Meta AI now live in the U.K. and expanding to the EU next week, the tech giant is steadily building a more unified ecosystem around its wearable tech.
The company has also teased future launches in Mexico, India, and the UAE.
Last October, Ray-Ban Metas launched a major campaign starring artists Anderson .Paak, Tinashe, and James Blake.
