Customer Acquisition Has Become Increasingly Challenging
Factors like oversaturated markets, complex customer journeys, and algorithm changes have made attracting new customers increasingly difficult.
The cost of acquiring new customers has also skyrocketed by as much as 222% in the past eight years.
Given this, the Loyalty Lab workshop highlighted that customer retention is more important than ever, and brands should think beyond just bringing in new customers.
This is where loyalty strategies come into play.
Most decisions are guided by subconscious, emotional drivers rather than purely logical thinking.
To make this more actionable, MailChimp developed the Loyalty Wheel which condenses the main drivers of loyalty: social Interaction, reward, and emotion.
After attendees understood what really drives customer loyalty, Ismailovski provided them with specific tactics that can influence:
- Sense of ownership: Actively engaging customers with the brand to foster a sense of collaboration
- Gift giving: Promoting organic peer-to-peer marketing through personalization strategies
- Smooth selling: Removing obstacles that can disrupt customers’ shopping journeys
- Choice validation: Reminding customers that they’ve made the right choice after purchasing
The day ended with a Q&A session and a happy hour that enabled participants to network with industry leaders.
The workshop was a valuable opportunity for business owners, marketers, and brand executives to gain practical, science-backed strategies to effectively build brand affinity with their target audience.
