The Starbucks app reportedly experienced issues on Thursday following the launch of the app's 2024 holiday menu.
Users who tried to open the app received a notification stating that "mobile ordering is currently unavailable."
Customers were prompted to visit a store to place an order with a barista. The app also prevented users from paying with the Starbucks app in person.
Hello Christine, we are currently experiencing a temporary outage of the order ahead and pay feature in our app. We continue to welcome and serve customers in our drive-thrus and stores. -John

According to online outage tracker Downdetector, the Starbucks app saw a spike in user reports at around 8 a.m. Eastern Time.
Just as its Holiday Menu went live, the Starbucks app experienced major problems, which isn't good both for its image and business.
A reliable app requires a solid developmental phase to ensure consistent performance.
This is where a trustworthy partner comes in. By choosing the right mobile app development agency to build and maintain apps, brands can ensure fewer slip-ups during crucial releases.
Delayed Holiday Treats
Starbucks' Holiday Menu included the Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai, Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, and Peppermint Mocha.
These items eventually became available on Thursday when the app regained functionality.

Now, the brand's holiday campaign is in full swing, with more surprises in store in the weeks ahead.
Back in September, Starbucks launched a campaign with Energy BBDO involving a unique social experiment that shows how drinking its bottled Frappuccino is more comforting than petting a pony.
