Granite Mountain Accounting

I used Granite Mountain for the past few years and have become increasingly dissatisfied.First, they added a deduction to one of my returns that should not have been taken. I understand that mistakes happen. When they do, I simply expect acknowledgment and accountability. They attempted to fix it and helped me pay the associated underpayment. However, the IRS continued to inform me that there was still an amount owed. Daniel said not to worry about it after I brought it up a few times. Long story short, the IRS charged me a penalty of about $900 and hundreds of dollars of interest. Granite Mountain got the interest waived but did nothing about the penalty even though it was their error. I reached out multiple times to talk to Daniel about this and I was ignored.This leads to my second point - this firm is unresponsive. I have had many emails and voicemails ignored. In this day and age, it is bad business to leave customers hanging.Third, this firm used to file a monthly gross receipts tax return for me. However, I just noticed that they haven’t filed it for five months. I had to file each return myself and pay the associated late penalties.The only reason I’m not giving a lower rating is because Daniel provided some good advice in the past. Overall, this firm does not take accountability for their errors, is unresponsive, and can’t deliver on their expectations. "

Being new in town we put our faith in this business. Colossal mistake. There were amended returns and several extra charges involved. They wouldn’t return my phone messages or emails. I had to call the state to take care of 2023 taxes myself. They advised me to get another tax preparer. "

These people don't answer the phone and are rude when they do. When I tried to contact Daniel, the owner, he was always "busy". They messed up my 2024 estimated taxes which caused me to owe more tax. Obviously did not use them to file my 2024 taxes. "

I’ve been using Granite Mountain accounting for over 5 years now and Bill and his team are amazing. I was fortunate enough to use his location in Flagstaff & Las Cruces due to military moves and continue to use them from Alaska! I’m so thankful that they are efficient and everyone on the team is so friendly. I was working with Megan on our 2024 taxes and she spent so much time talking me through everything. I cannot express how helpful and kind she was to spend that much time during their busy season! I’d give them 10 stars if I could! "

I have been with this company for years. I will not go back. I had my taxes done early in the year, and I requested a hard copy because I prefer to mail my return in, as opposed to e-file. My accountant told me he would have them send it. Ten days later, when it did not arrive, I called them directly, and requested this again, as I was leaving the country for 17 days. When I got back, they had not arrived. I called again, last Saturday, and they promised that they would send it that day, and it would arrive by Wednesday, as I was leaving town Thursday morning. Guess what; never came. I called Thursday ( yesterday), and said I will be in today (Friday) to pick it up personally. I live in Texas and was in Las Cruces for business. When I arrived Friday afternoon, (today), they said they hadn't printed them yet, and thought I was coming in Monday, which is the filing deadline. I waited 45 minutes in the office today and finally left with the return. My wife is still in Texas, and I have to get her signature as well. So, does anyone think this is acceptable business behavior? "
