Hale & Company

For personal taxes filing, I’d avoid this firm. They give you a huge packet of worksheets that you’re expected to fill out by hand, then submit all your tax documents online. But here’s the kicker: the worksheets are in complete disarray. The worst part is that they contain a ton of redundant sheets, as if they were multiple versions of the same packet frankensteined together. But also, the lines are all too small to write your information in, and there isn’t coverage of all possible tax situations.I mean, if I’m expected to handwrite in all of my tax information for $300, I might as well just use TurboTax, which charges at most $220 for their full service, and actually get a full comprehensive online form that captures all possible tax situations. If I were a business school professor grading that stupid worksheet that Hale gives to its clients to fill out, I’d pull them aside after class and ask them if they need drug or alcohol counseling. What a complete joke of an operation. Asking people to manually fill out packets worth of complex tax information on disjointed, janky, incomplete paperwork should be illegal under state and federal consumer protection laws. Shame on Hale and Company for wasting my time.By the way, I did go with TurboTax and it was great.UPDATE: I found out three years later that Hale & Co. misfiled our 2020 taxes and overpaid them by many thousands of dollars. Which means instead of that money earning compound interest for three years, it was sitting in IRS coffers because Hale & Co. is incompetent. Thanks, Hale & Company. Great work there. "
