Updated May 2023 Review:I woke up this morning to an email from an unfamiliar email address with subject titled, "Your 2022 Taxes." Of course, anything related to my old friends, the IRS, is going to get an immediate email open from me.To my surprise, it was an email from my favorite tax team, HFA. Here we are in May 2023, after going through that disaster with them with my taxes last year, and not a peep from them after I submitted numerous complaints about their performance, and I receive a boilerplate email from them, asking to perform my taxes for this year.You want to know the best part? The email came from an intern. An email submitted to me in May. Asking me for more business.There is a reason why this firm does not exist on Yelp. They were probably negative-reviewed out of existence. I don't like letting the NJ girl out of me often, but these people are trying my nerves. Geezus.---January 2023 Review:Tom Neral did my 2021 taxes for the first and last time. My taxes are not that complicated - I live and work in CA and only have one source of income and mortgage.I submitted all of my documentation in February / March 2022, along with my email address, letting him know that he could reach out with any questions. I received no response from him until months later (August 2022), where he told me that my taxes still had not been filed yet because he was missing a form from me.I provided that form a week later and still had to follow-up with him several times before finally getting a response that my taxes were filed late.Upon reviewing my taxes, I noticed that they were filed for NJ as opposed to CA. I have not lived in NJ for over 20 years, nor does any of my paperwork reflect anything having to do with NJ.I am not a tax professional, but this felt like an amateur oversight. I never received an apology nor explanation for why that happened. And given the abysmal customer service, I advise people to stay away. "
