From a simple beginning - Australian Website Development was founded by Todd Johnson in 2008, working on weekends and burning the candle late at night with a handful of clients that we still have today, like Flash Flooring. Fiona Pirlo joined the company in 2010 and has helped Australian Website Development grow into a full-service website and SEO agency driven by a small team of advanced creatives, developers and SEOs.

In the early years, we mostly built static websites and websites built with hand-rolled content management systems. The development of Wordpress changed everything. Wordpress is our primary content management system and is our development strength. The best part about WordPress is that it's easy to use and flexible enough to make different types of websites. That's the main reason why WordPress has grown so much in popularity. In fact, according to a recent survey, WordPress powers 43% of all websites on the internet.

Around 2014 Todd became passionate about search engine optimisation. Our passion is undeniable, and its through this passion that our SEO team applies the best Google practices and works towards bigger goals. We've helped numerous clients get to page one on Google and will continue doing so for many years to come.

In 2016 we started building eCommerce websites on Shopify. Shopify is a complete eCommerce solution that our customers love. Shopify is a cloud-based tool. It is affordable and saves more time and resources. We also started building on the Magento platform, which is a full, rich eCommerce solution for our larger clients. Having been on the market for over 10 years, Magento is now the world's biggest eCommerce platform, in which over 250,000 retailers all around the world have placed their trust.
