Stay away! I received an email 3 days prior to the end of the year from our assigned accountant stating she was leaving Blackman and Sloop “as of this week.” Wow, thanks for the advance notice! In addition, we were informed that another accountant would now be working with us, however, we were not given any contact information for person, nor did we receive any contact or notification from this accountant herself to let us know how to proceed.If we had formerly received excellent service from Blackman & Sloop, then we might have considered actually transitioning to this new mystery accountant. However, our last year trying to get our 2014 taxes completed was an ongoing nightmare, marked by repeated unanswered and lost communications, with our accountant dropping the ball a multitude of times. The highlight of this experience was our accountant's late afternoon April 13th request of checks for a very large sum with a deadline to deliver them to her by the following day! Please keep in mind, this was AFTER I had given the accountant prior notice in December 2014 regarding my concerns of our potential tax burden and specifically asked her to look at this in advance so that we could go ahead and deal with any payments early to avoid last minute surprises.And yet, that’s not all. I sent repeated emails to her between May and August 2015 requesting her assistance to finalize our 2014 taxes, to which she did not effectively respond to until September 2015, at which time she again asked for the same information that we had given her multiple times. She had clearly not bothered to do anything with our file for some time, as I had left a check in a folder of paperwork I dropped off for her in March--She did not even notice this check until September!!!! I had since cancelled payment on the check and had it re-issued, thinking it lost. Finally, she claimed to have finalized and submitted our 2014 taxes in early September, but on October 1, I still had not received notification from the government of having received my returns. After I contacted her again, she finally filed them in October. I had been trying to get her to finalize my return since June. "
