  • Project Brief: Design a weather app that delivers smarter forecasts, interactive weather tracking, personalized alerts, and contextual insights through an intuitive interface optimized for mobile and tablet experiences.

A content and news app about the weather lives or dies on one thing: how fast a glance turns into a plan. Yahoo Weather answers that by pairing a real photo of the local scene with a daily narrative, so context arrives before you read a single number.

The home screen leads with place, not data. A live shot of people picnicking under the Brooklyn Bridge fills the frame with the temperature laid over it, and a plain "Coming Up" line spells out the day's story in a sentence.

The MinuteCast panel does the practical work. A "Rain starting in 24 min" readout with a light-to-heavy bar chart answers the only question that matters when you are deciding whether to leave now.

Yahoo's team kept the palette dark and photographic so the data reads clean against it, from the ten-day strip to the full radar map. That balance is what makes the app enjoyable to open, not just useful, which is the harder thing for a tool people check ten times a day.
