Lion King
Lions typically representspower, authority, and strength, so it's normally designed in such a way that emphasizes specific physical attributes, such as claws, teeth or the mane (think MGM, Peugeot or the Lannister family crest in the show Game of Thrones). But in this case, the designer chose to keep it simple and minimal, using only the crown as a symbol of power.
Although this is a personal project for George Otsubo and it hasn't really been used by a company, it could represent a sports brand quite well. The bold colors and simplistic shapes evoke similar feelings that Adidas, Nike or Ecko Ultd do. The fact that it lacks a sense of movement but conveys the sense of power reminds us of '90s sports brands, such as FUBU or Pelle Pelle, when sportswear was as expensive and as high-end as luxury fashion. In today's athleisure-based world, this logo could fit right in again!
Lion King is a bold logo design in the arts & recreation industry.
