- Project Brief: Create packaging design for Ggiata Soda that celebrates classic East Coast deli flavors through custom retro illustrations, vibrant label graphics, and a nostalgic visual identity inspired by New Jersey roots.
Beverage packaging can carry a whole hometown on a single label. Bill Rebholz illustrated Ggiata’s soda line in a retro style modeled after the classic drinks you’d grab at an East Coast deli.
Each label pairs a bold flavor color with the red Ggiata wordmark in chunky, rounded letters. “Deli” and “Classics” run down opposite sides, with a small “Made in Jersey” badge tucked beside the 12 oz mark.
In the center, a flat, blocky illustration shows what’s inside, like a tapped barrel for root beer or a pair of plump cherries. Script lettering names each flavor after a Jersey spot, from Raritan Root Beer to Brick City Birch Beer.
Lined up together, the bright bottles look like a row of vintage deli signs. You can grab one at a time or take home the whole assorted pack.
