- Project Brief: Create packaging design that revives Wendy’s original yellow visual identity across burgers, nuggets, fries, and Frosty cups to reconnect with brand heritage and fan nostalgia.
Food and beverage packaging that revives an archive design has to trust the original was right. Wendy's internal team brings back the yellow packaging from its earliest decades, dressing burgers, fry cartons, nugget boxes, and Frosty cups in the sunlit color fans keep asking for.
The yellow does the whole job. A warm mustard field wraps every item and pushes the packaging back to the daylit dining rooms the chain ran in the 1970s and 80s.
The framed logo anchors each piece. The red-badge Wendy's mark with the freckled mascot and Western wordmark sits centered on cup, carton, and bag, so the system reads instantly as the vintage identity.
The retro detailing seals the nostalgia. Old-fashioned scrollwork, "Old Fashioned Hamburgers" tagline, and newsprint tray liners lean fully into the throwback, turning a color swap into a period revival.
