- Project Brief: Create print design for New Moon: Deluxe Collector’s Edition that celebrates the novel’s 20th anniversary through romantic botanical illustrations, bespoke hand lettering, foil-stamped finishes, and interactive gilded edges.
A book cover can turn a familiar story into a keepsake when every surface invites a closer look. Maggie Enterrios designed the 20th anniversary deluxe edition of Stephenie Meyer’s New Moon, the second release in an illustrated series that began with Twilight.
Crimson bleeding heart flowers trimmed in gold dangle from dark green vines across a pale sky-blue slipcase. The drooping, heart-shaped blooms suit a book about heartbreak, so the botanicals tell the story before you open it.
Hand-lettered gold foil spells New Moon with curling flourishes on the slipcase and the spine. Underneath, a deep navy hardcover frames the title inside a heart-shaped clearing ringed with more red blooms.
Teal line-engraved leaves and red bleeding hearts fill the endpapers, with a small bookplate reading This book belongs to. Gilded page edges hide a painted portrait of a young woman in profile, which appears only when you fan the pages.
