Drap Agency 2 Colorful Homepage

Design agency websites often run the gamut of incredibly simple to completely over-the-top. But upon opening Drap Agency's website, it's clear that they've mastered the best of both worlds.

On the homepage, users are met with three bold colors, a simple animated text description of what the agency does, animated icons, and a Call to Action encouraging them to take a deeper look.

A list of clients -- which show breadth of industry experience -- follows the case studios. The next panel centers on leadership, and the page concludes with a newsletter sign-up in the footer. The simplicity of this site is extremely effective, from the branding to the ease of use to the overall look and feel.

This page utilizes custom illustrations and a consistent color palette to drive home Drap Agency's brand identity. The solid blue background and red illustrations, paired with the stark white type and simple descriptions, beg to be engaged with by users. The blue and red colors reverse while the type remains constant when the users hover, creating a nice effect. An additional Call to Action appears on hover, although it is not necessarily needed -- the entire box links to the specific work detail page. The content is presented in a nice hierarchy; emphasis is placed on the main article and flows down to two columns, then three, concluding with a newsletter capture form and a contact Call to Action.

The transitions between pages are pleasant. The logo, placed front and center, draws itself when the page loads. The custom illustrations shown in the work landing page repeat on within the header on the detail page, which drives home consistency.  The detail page follows a blog template, with navigation buttons on the left side that allow the user to easily scroll back and forth between work or click a button to head back to the landing page. Pertinent client information balances that out on the right side of the page.

The overall design is simple. As the user scrolls through the panel design, illustrations are drawn out in the shape of a "D." Each panel invites users to explore a case study related to the recently drawn illustration that highlights their experience in the field-- this combines information and creativity perfectly, and should be the intention of all great portfolio sites. After all, viewers want to know what you did, how you did it, and what the results were.
