G - ULD produces and sells hand and naturally dyed yarn, and provides DIY courses and workshops through their online shop.
The homepage is a minimalistic, one deep-scrolling page design. The banner is a nice image overlaid with three calls to action. When users pick up one of the three calls to action, an extraordinary effect occurs -- the imagery turns into a video presentation, in which the represented item is picked up by a pair of hands. Next, the video is resized to aim at only the specific item, then moved aside to show the introduction. When users choose to go back to the homepage, the item is placed back on the table as it was. This effect is very creative and memorable interactive illusion.
The typography is clearly something the web designer care about as well. The interface has the magazine-like look and feel, and the micro-movement of the elements increases the visual depths. The sticky navigation provides user-friendly web environment.
The shop is very straightforward. The mega menu on top of the “Shop” page functions as the filters and categories. The layout is a grid, yet the elements are purposely positioned on edge, which adds personality. The subtle color palette, airy layout, and knitting pattern all represent the nature of the products.
