Standout Features:

  • Efficient search functionality
  • Trust-building visuals
  • Seamless, mobile-friendly interface

Kiva is a nonprofit organization that facilitates microloans to entrepreneurs and small businesses in underserved communities worldwide. They aim to alleviate poverty by providing financial opportunities to those in need.

The challenge in their website redesign was to create a platform that informs visitors and encourages them to act by making loans. The new site simplifies navigation, emphasizes trust and transparency, and invites users to engage with the platform through a modern, intuitive design.

The loan browsing feature lets users search by region, sector, or impact, enabling them to support causes that resonate with them. Filtering features also make discovering opportunities that resonate with their preferences easy, creating a seamless lending experience!

Additionally, personal borrower stories and detailed loan information add a layer of transparency that builds user trust. Each borrower profile includes background information, the loan amount needed, and how it will be used, giving lenders confidence in where their money is going.

The progress bars in tracking loan fulfillment keep users informed in real time. This transparency fosters a sense of connection between lenders and borrowers. It also reinforces Kiva’s dedication to accountability – a crucial factor for sustaining long-term engagement with the platform.

Recognizing that many users access the platform from mobile devices, Kiva has ensured its website is fully responsive and mobile-optimized. The design adapts fluidly across devices, offering a consistent and smooth experience whether users are on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone.

This mobile accessibility is critical for Kiva’s global user base, particularly in regions where mobile is the primary means of internet access. By optimizing for mobile, the nonprofit extends its reach, making it easy for users to lend and manage their accounts anytime, anywhere!
