At HemingwayDesign, we have a firm philosophy that 'design is about improving things that matter in life'. It is this mantra that continually ensures our brave creative thinking and method for delivering positive, socially-responsible design.

Our greatest strength lies in the multifaceted way we look at all projects, which comes from years of multi-disciplinary design.

The team is a unique blend of old and new, so to speak. Founders Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway bring four decades’ worth of award-winning design and entrepreneurial experience to the table, which works in harmony with the bounty of fresh, invigorating ideas from the next generation of HemingwayDesign partners, who all innately understand the desires and needs of ‘millennials’.

Our work takes us across culture-led regeneration, affordable housing, urban design, interiors, placemaking and events, exhibition design, brand, visual design and uniform – and we do it all with a community-focused and ethically minded approach.

Human-centred Design

Good design must be human-centred - if it doesn’t work for all the people that come into contact with it, it hasn’t reached its goal. Being human-centred is not just about your user. Human-centred design considers every single human being that your design decisions impact on.

We believe in the power of co-creation and achieve this by actively involving all stakeholders in the design process to help ensure the result meets their needs and expectations.

We begin by assuming that everyone is an expert and that every person’s point of view is valid. We always invite the key stakeholders and end-users to participate and inform in the creative process; using online tools to share documents, images and stories and invite comment and conversations that inform design proposals.

We believe this collaborative approach, where issues and options are collectively reviewed, adds real value to the process and its outputs.
