Logo Design Analysis

When I look at a logo, I focus on four things:

  • the strength of the idea
  • the clarity of the typography
  • how well it works at different scales, and
  • how it carries into real applications.

That’s the approach I used with Apollo.

  • Concept: The lyre symbol immediately connects with Apollo’s classical inspiration. I like how it feels rooted in history yet still fresh enough to represent a modern workspace.
  • Typography: With its glyphic serif, the typeface balances strength and warmth. It suggests tradition without feeling dated, helping the identity feel established while still welcoming.
  • Scalability: The mark reads cleanly at any size. On a storefront it feels commanding, yet it still holds detail and clarity when reduced to a digital avatar or a business card.
  • Applications: Icon and type can operate as a pair or independently. That flexibility makes the system adaptable across formats while maintaining a consistent personality.

What Brands & Agencies Can Learn from Apollo

Apollo’s identity demonstrates how design can honor tradition while remaining current. Here are a few lessons brands and agencies can take away:

1. Heritage Can Feel Alive

The lyre symbol roots the brand in history without feeling dated. When history is referenced in design, it forges recognition, trust, and a deeper emotional bond with audiences because shared cultural cues feel familiar, meaningful, and lasting.

2. Typography Sets the Tone

The carved quality of the glyphic serif typeface communicates confidence and refinement. Thoughtful type choices can quietly shape how people perceive a brand’s personality, whether that’s authoritative, friendly, or inventive.

3. Keep the Logo Working Everywhere

Apollo’s mark holds up whether it’s on a building sign, a website header, or a printed card. Creating a logo that feels just as strong at small and large scales gives the brand freedom to express itself consistently across different settings.
