Making its complex information feel crystal clear and suitably concise was a paramount requirement for the Risk Advisory Group's important trade flow infographics project. Marksmade reached these targets not just in the design of the main, detailed flow chart itself, but through the purposefully simplified supporting graphics they created as well.

The main focus, taking up the whole left-hand page, is a large Sankey diagram. This chart type is excellent for showing complex flows visually. In this case, it illustrates trade direction and volume (via line thickness) between key nations, using differently colored bands tracks the value of exports from a specific country or region on the left to the various destination countries on the right.

Marksmade also uses the double-page spread layout effectively in this design. On one hand, the Sankey diagram sits clearly on a clean white background. In contrast, the right-hand page utilizes a dark blue background to present two smaller, distinct infographics commodity price changes and GDP trend data. This separation creates a clear hierarchy.

On that note, those supporting charts featured on the right page really simplify the necessary background data quite well. For instance, a commodity price grid uses simple icons and trend arrows which you can understand with just a quick glance. A color-coded GDP line chart also employs clean lines and clear colors to show relevant trends.
