• Project Brief: Produce a commercial video for CamelBak that places the product at the heart of every shot, combines live-action use cases with animation, and highlights the brand’s hydration innovation.

Video Design Analysis

When I review commercial videos, I often look at product positioning, storytelling clarity, pacing, and creative execution.

Black Box Media’s CamelBak video is an excellent example of how a product can remain the centerpiece while the visuals create an engaging brand story.

• Product-Centered Direction: I like how the water bottle remains the constant focal point, even as it changes hands. This ensures brand recall while showing versatility.
• Storytelling in Action: The video demonstrates real-world use — filling the bottle, drinking from it, and presenting it in a 360° showcase. This flow makes the features feel tangible.
• Motion Graphics & Animation: The animated butterflies, drawn directly from the product’s print design, add playful transitions. They tie the brand’s visual identity into the video seamlessly.
• Pacing & Showcase: The blend of lifestyle moments and close-up product shots keeps the narrative balanced, showing both functional and emotional appeal.
