- Project Brief: Create a campaign that connects Lionel Messi’s legacy with Adidas through a story rooted in Argentine culture and identity.
A short film about a footballer rarely aims for poetry, but Adidas's "El Último Tango" gets there. The Midnight Club frames Messi's career as a dance with destiny, using Argentina's tango to tie artistry, pride, and football together.
The metaphor carries the creative. Casting it as a final tango lifts the spot past sports hype, with Messi's narration leaning on loyalty: "they've been with me from the start, let's go again."
Motion and editing favor elegance over adrenaline. Dramatic, cinematic imagery, and smooth transitions give the film an emotional weight most boot ads never attempt.
The execution stays tight and built for reach. It runs short and lands closer to art than advertising, positioning Messi as a cultural figure rather than just a player.
