  • Project Brief: Create a one-minute 3D animation that translates Gucci's fragrance through photorealistic materials, alchemy-inspired imagery, and immersive visual storytelling.

An animation for a perfume has to pull off something kind of impossible: showing you a smell. "The Alchemist's Garden" gets around it by building Gucci a 3D alchemy lab, where the scent turns into a whole room of crystallized fruit, glass vessels, and mineral tools you could swear you could reach out and touch.

The photorealism is what really sells it. The raspberries, the pomegranates, the blown-glass flasks all have this tactile weight to them, so something as vague as "osmanthus nectar" suddenly feels like an actual thing instead of just words on a bottle.

And the alchemy setting quietly carries the deeper idea. The beakers, the distilling rigs, the trays of gemstones all frame the fragrance as a kind of transformation, which fits Gucci's whole story about turning raw ingredients into something rare.

Spring Tang plays that realism off against pure abstraction, and Anji Dang's sound design fills in the mood a still frame never could. Together they hand an invisible product a whole little world, so a one-minute film can somehow make you feel a scent through nothing but sight and sound.
