  • Project Brief: Create a cinematic brand film that showcases Roku's entertainment platform through genre-inspired storytelling, fast-paced editing, and theatrical visual design.

A short film ad usually leans on one joke and rides it out. Roku's "TV Is Better Here" builds a whole world instead, staging its neon Roku City theater as the setting for a fast, self-aware romp through every genre at once.

The concept treats the platform as a place. Pirates, mobsters, and doctors wander a purple art-deco cinema, and a bellhop offering a tray of Roku remotes turns the product into a prop inside the story rather than a logo pasted on top. Juror Andrea Owsinek-Brucker caught the payoff of that restraint, noting a spot that is "engaging, entertaining, and endorses Roku nicely."

The craft keeps the energy up without losing the thread. Fast cuts mirror a feature-presentation trailer, swapping character archetypes to signal the breadth of content, while a conversational script demystifies dull steps like TV setup by playing them for laughs.

Juror Lucia Barbaresso credited both halves of that balance, praising a "dynamic and entertaining storyline" alongside "impeccable technical execution."

Sound carries the tone as much as the visuals. An upbeat cinematic score sets the mood, and timed effects like a sudden scream or a burst of laughter punctuate the absurd beats, so the "more fun here" promise reads through the edit itself.
