Team Behind the Design

  • Project Brief: Create an automotive video that positions the Chevrolet as a personal canvas through emotional storytelling, individuality, and the experiences drivers create.

Automotive video that separates the badge from the brand puts meaning ahead of metal. Rethink builds "You Make It a Chevy" on one idea: Chevrolet builds the vehicle, and the owner turns it into a Chevy through the life they drive it through.

The behind-the-scenes shoot pulls back the curtain on the ad itself. A green-screen wall, a drifting orange sports car, a stunt performer mid-fall, and the full crew on the dolly track show the machine as pure production before any memories get attached to it.

The wrecked CP24 news truck crashing through a building wall pushes the manufactured spectacle to its peak. That staged breaking-news wreck reads as the factory's version of drama, all stunt and no substance, which teases the turn the film is about to make.

The dealership closer brings the idea home to a real owner. A red Equinox sits out front while a customer walks from the Chevrolet showroom doors, landing the point that the driver, not the shoot, gives the car its meaning.
